More than one hundred years ago America invented the national park idea with the designation of Yellowstone as the first national park. Guided by that founding idea, and in light of the centennial celebration of the National Parks Service in 2016, the National Park Second Century Commission was convened to examine the role of the national parks today and articulate a bold vision of a future where national parks continue to enrich and ennoble this nation and its citizens. Through five meetings at National Parks across the country, seven working groups, public testimony and extensive public comment, the Commission has now completed a report and offered recommendations for this vision of the parks. We invite you to review those recommendations and indicate how you might like to assist in continuing the vision. To read the full report or for more recommendations please visit www.visionfortheparks.org

Your responses will not be confidential and will be used to help guide priorities. If you indicate interest in further engagement in any of the recommendations, then we may contact you using the information that you provide to join a working group.

It will take approximately 20 minutes to complete your responses. If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Amy Gibson at the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy agibson1@utk.edu

The questions are grouped into four categories: "Natural and Cultural Resource Protection", "Governance, Leadership, and Park System Expansion", "Education and Engagement", and "Funding". We encourage you to review all of the categories and questions in completing the survey.
